Starting any collection can seem overwhelming. Do you focus on the rarer, harder to find, and more expensive pieces? Do you start with pieces that are easier to find and avoid the large investments at first? Really the first thing to do is to spend some time thinking about what you want to collect. If you are considering figurines, look at Lladro figurines. These are very popular and have stood the test of time. Many Lladro collectors focus their collections around a particular topic or subject. There are many styles and types of figurines. One possibility is focusing on Lladro dogs. Also at first you will not “know” what the figurines are worth as well so it is better to avoid the rarer, more expensive ones unless you are willing to research and watch auction websites like eBay.
Lladro dogs or any of their figurines can make great collectibles. Just remember that this is a hobby and is your collection. Collect what you like, ask for figurines as gifts, and do not worry about rarity at first. In time this may be a great collection that looks good for years to come. You can always focus on resale value later if you are interested in selling your figurines. With these suggestions you can start your collection with minimal stress.
